The Sacajawea Center is an awesome place. It would be impossible for us to try to put into words our thoughts about all of the incredible features and many aspects of this place. On one level is a place with a lot of physical features. However, on another level it's a spiritual spot with its own special power. If you ever get a chance to volunteer at The Sacajawea Center, jump at it! This is one of the great gems of the Gem State. It's a national and international resource, too. People from around the world will always be fascinated by the epic Lewis & Clark Expedition and the role of their amazing associate--the legendary Sacajawea.

There are lots and lots of things for volunteers to do at The Center. If you have an hour, a day, a week, a month, a summer or a lifetime, The Sacajawea Center Staff will put you to work. If this Center was in an urban area, there would be scores, if not hundreds, of volunteers lined up to help however they could. However, volunteers are stretched pretty thin in Salmon, Idaho, and rural Lemhi County. Luckily, there are some really dedicated people who help keep the Center open and available. We are so proud of them for their help in putting the sparkle in this gem of a resource. THANK YOU, Volunteers!

What The Center really needs right now is a Volunteer Volunteer Coordinator. The Center Manager is juggling so many different tasks. If someone would step forward to volunteer to help manage the volunteers, it would be GREAT! RSVP believes that The Sacajawea Center is attractive to National Volunteers and we will be advertising for people from around America to come to Salmon to volunteer during their vacation or all summer, if they can. However, we sure hope that someone in the Salmon Community sees fit to give it a whirl as a Volunteer Volunteer Coordinator. We will do whatever we can to help you get up and running in that position is you so choose.

In the meantime, think about helping The Center even if you have only a few hours. Your time and energy will make a difference and you will be proud of your service there.
